Snow no longer soaks the ground.
The sun is shining high in the sky.
The weather is warm.
March has fallen quick and fast.
A quarter of the year has come and gone.
Time really does seem to fly in a blink of an eye.
And the world continues to spin and spin.
Blogging took a real hit this month. I’ve written a whopping total of five blog posts this month. I do wish that I had written more considering the ideas I’ve had brainstormed but finding the time to write good quality content is time-consuming. Putting aside time to write this month has been difficult. Losing an hour due to Daylights Saving doesn’t help either. A lot of the time I would have dedicated to writing blog posts was actually spent on writing and finishing a specific fan fiction piece that I have been working on for a while. I finally finished it this month and I am filled with pure relief. (You can read it here.) Hopefully, I’ll be able to find more time to do so in April. Fingers crossed.
Reading took an even a worst hit this month since I only read one complete book. The only book that I read and the one that takes the title of “the first book to make me cry in 2016” is When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi. It is a searing memoir of a man, who at his prime was given the devastating diagnosis of Stage IV lung cancer. It will make you cry, make you think, uplift you, ground you, and deeply miss a man that had so much potential that you never had the chance of personally meeting. It’s one of the best memoirs I’ve read in a long time. The writing is absolutely exquisite. I recommend taking the advice given in the forward that recommends reading some of Paul’s last written words out loud. They definitely deserve to be read out loud.
I went on a juice cleanse, changed parts of my diet and drank a lot, A LOT, of water this month in order to try to help improve how I’m feeling and how my body is functioning. My skin has always been the first indicator that there is something going on in my body and for the last two months its gone haywire. I’ve suffered the worst continuous acne breakout that I’ve had in years and on top of that my mild case if psoriasis decided to flare up. I even went to get a facial at the beginning of the month to see if it would help and no such luck. I did find out that my skin was very dehydrated and stressed though. My skin has gotten a little better as the month has gone on but not by much. I’m hoping to continue all of this in April in order to improve my well-being even more.
The vacation plans are being to solidify. I’m going to be headed to Vancouver at the end of July for a long weekend getaway from some of my friends. I’m pretty excited for this trip since it’s been years since I’ve actually been in Vancouver proper and not just its airport. I’m ready to do some relaxation and exploring. And maybe some star sighting. (Probably not though since they’ll all be on vacation as well.) I’m still not 100% sure about my trip to New York City in November but I’m definitely being swayed towards it. A trip to a tropical island is still up in the air but fingers are crossed.
Things are going well on the school front. I’ve actually applied to one of the programs at my alma mater and have been accepted. I’m also taking steps towards an applying to another school for the publishing program they are offering. Both of these options are going to substantially change how my life functions and that’s a bit terrifying. Hopefully, everything will be sorted out by the end of April. I hope.
And as always, I strive to give fewer fucks! Though it has been hard this month considering the amount misogyny that has been running rampant around the things I love and care about.
I hope you all had an amazing March and an even greater April! 😘
